Wilhelm's Conversation With a Germanman
Macmillan describes Wortley as credulous, little naive and maybe believing a little too much of what the Kaiser was dishing out. He came to the conclusion that if only the British public could have heard Wilhelm's real in quotations, real views, relations between the two countries could be mended overnight. So he wrote down some notes of the conversation and then submitted those notes to a journalist who then wrote them up in the form of an interview to make it look like that's what had taken place. When that was finished, the journalist sent it to Germany for the Kaiser's approval, which is quite nice, right?
