The Customer Center and the Problem of Defunding
Ruben Navarrette: I think a really important point here, though, the idea of the student as customer. In fact, it's kind of the point now where if I go to the IT people, they tell me I'm a customer. And I'm like, no, we work for the same institution. I'm not your customer. It really fascinates me that that model has become so pervasive.Navarrette: Along with that change, what we've seen is the defunding of public universities in the United States. So I wonder if each of you could talk a little bit about what that customer model and also this problem of defunding.
