The Athenians and the Peloponnesian War
The Peloponnesian war ends in the years that follow owing to a couple of things first there's a daring move by Athens and one which completely backfires and is a catastrophe second there's a new alliance which made Sparta all but impossible to oppose. The millions even after having been presented with a very honest statement by the Athenians of their intentions to use force against them if they don't submit still cannot do other than assert themselves against the threat. Greek morality which guides both parties compels them to fight again as throughout this conflict requires the clash of their powers to continue right the negotiation in the end the dialogue cannot stop anything now and so we're left with that same
