In economics, those are called post-experience goods. You have experience goods where you need to use them to tell whether it's working. And then you have post-experiences goods where even after you've used them, you can't tell whether they've worked. Those are some of the products where you find the most dodgy markets and fraudulent products because there's no feedback cycle.
