If you're traveling during a peak period like summer or school holidays, things aren't going to be as flexible. Leaving it to the last minute because you want a better deal is actually going to shoot yourself in the foot. So obviously if you're keen, do research earlier. But if you've got a hotel or an Airbnb that you're super keen on, I would absolutely suggest booking in also other hot tier.
