Kajik and a comrade used the network of sewers underneath the city to get back into the ghetto. The two young men made their way to the house of a Polish woman that Kajik's friend knew outside the ghetto walls. But after they'd recovered their strength, Kajik decided he had to go back into thehetto to look for survivors. He found a landscape completely transformed, houses, streets gone, only rubble deserted.
