The Athenians were and weren't democratic in our sense, he says. They had a system of ostracism where if there was somebody that they really thought was a pain in the neck you could actually banish them from the city. So when we look at ancient democracies, we have abandoned that because we don't believe in political politics as God is just out of the divine version of itself.
