The Importance of Symbolic Procedures at Schorfield
Schorfield maintained a symbolic boundary between dirty and clean or private and communal spaces. Each resident had their own on sweets with its own sealed clinical waste bin. Care workers also concealed all of the items that were involved in bodily care before they left someone's bedroom. So things like hairbrushes and queens, so spaces were kind of restored to being clean.
