Chris duddy, mike benson and craig hosking were reunited at the hospital shortly after mike's rescue. Despite their prolonged exposure to the toxic fumes, they spent only a few days there. None of them suffered permanent lung damage. But chris says that for months after getting rescued, he could taste sulphur every time he coughed. Researchers believe no one in modern hisory had ever breathed in volcanic gas as long as chris and mike did.
