The story is chat GPT 3.5 generates more disinformation in Chinese than in English. NewsGuard prompted chat GPT in English to try to get it to say some false things. They found that in English, chat GPT would decline to answer those kinds of prompts. Whereas if they prompted it in Chinese, they got answers seven out of seven times. So there's some language sensitivity to the safety checks.
