There are certainly uses for vr. Probably more business to business kind of things may be, like training or simulating environments. It's a bit cumbersome, isn't it? The head set is herrifically cumbersome. And the motion tracking is generally quite poor - even when you experience things that have had loads and loads and loads of money spent on them.
