The James Webb Space Telescope

The James webb space telescope is too big to be launched as a single, monolithic piece of glass. It has 18 hexagonal segments that make up a six and a half meter diameter mirror. Richard allis explains how light rays travelling through the expanding universe are stretched by the expansion of the universe. For instance, starlight from an early galaxy has been travelling 95 % of the age of the universe - you know the colours.
