The CRP was set up as the crowns representative police in 1939 by the British or to maintain law and order in princely states. ITBP and SSB raised as standalone forces after the Indochina war in 1962 to guard our borders against China. Later on we had the NSG in 1980s it was set up because Operation Bluestar happened and India felt need for special counter terrorism force.
