Aether has been mentioned a couple of times in the context of the ghost bloods because they are off worlders that we see a lot of one time by name. We don't get like a water aether. Brandon doesn't seem to do water as an element very often. It'd be cool if there was. And aethers that was liquid. The issue with the water aether is that it's the same problem that in White Sand where they fuel their sun magic water. They also originally had a power that let them produce water from sun.
