Humanoid Robots in Japan

In the 17th century, Japan invented a humanoid robot and they're called kara kuri dolls. They were basically there to carry tea to you in an intimidating manner. Another robot was programmed to politely ask humans to step aside when it bumped into them - but then children started punching and kicking it. So researchers had to put an abuse evading algorithm in the robot. If it saw anyone under 4'6", as in a child, it would quickly run in the other direction.
