The Importance of Ideology in the Next Generation
There is no Klingon empire. That's the other pole. Yes, there's Q and other amazing beings that have powers, but there's not like the existential struggle that eventually became part of the original series with the Klingon Empire. And this again was, you know, fairly early in the the run of next generation,. But he did have a strong influence on the first season and kind of consistent with his views. You're right, there was no big bad. There was no kind of primary antagonist. It seemed to be a kind of galaxy that was almost wholly dominated by the Federation.
