Aristotle's Commonness Account of Soul

Aristotle unambiguously rejects the first option there cannot be a single, new difficult essence specifying genius determining definition of soul. His account may say true things about souls but it doesn't state what soul or life is. It's not a single soul around but it would reveal the essence. So an inquiry into soul that begins with the definition that's as general as you know life or living being are off the table. The other two options I mentioned that embrace life's harmonics life may be nothing or it may be posterior.
