The Importance of Interfaith Relations

When Bishop of Durham, I was involved both with inter church work and some Christian Jewish work. In my own work as a biblical scholar, I've often had to work alongside and with Jewish colleagues coming at similar questions from very different angles. There wasn't a large presence of say Buddhists or Hindus or other people from the subcontinent of India but we did have an Orthodox Jewish community in Gateshead. That was always something I would pray about and wish we could do more to involve them.
