The Role of Constructions in Psychoanalysis
Freud says not enough is made of the role of constructions in analysis. Constructions may prove to be useful for a time, and then they may be discarded later on. A no might be a sign of resistance that we've hit upon the truth - but this is not necessarily what's happening. It may be that only a small fragment of the truth is contained within the construction. Freud: The analyst should be skeptical of the patient when they say yes or agree with a construction just as much as they are when the patient says no.
