Altruism Is Putting Your Interests Above Your Own
I think most people give to charity out of a sense of guilt or just because everybody does it. That's not selfish. Altruism is doing an action that you know will make you worse off, but is good for others. People do it all the time: You have a rotten brother who shouldn't be part of your life and he keeps coming to you for a loan. But you keep giving him why? Because you feel guilty.
