The Roadmap to a Re-Establishment of Ties in the Gulf
Ties between Riyadh and Tehran have been hugely challenging over much of the last decade. Relations, formal relations were cut in 2016 after I believe that the Saudi embassy was stormed in Iran. The two countries have been fighting a hot conflict through proxies across the region for much of thelast decade. This is played out in Syria and more pointedly in Yemen where you've had an Iranian-backed Houthi movement that has been firing missiles on to Saudi Arabia. Without really a diplomatic track dialogue between the two there's little hope of getting the region on a better track.
