The Antigone is a story about conflict between two different conceptions of communal organization. In the most, in the earliest times, pre-citizen community, your tribe was your community,. Your kinship group, those wereyour fellow citizens. But when you have a larger community that consists of numerous tribes or clans or family groupings, then the question arises: which do you owe more allegiance to, to your family or to your fellow citizens? And so the Antigone shows us a clash of those two systems.
