The Role of Newspapers in the History of the First Half of the 20th Century

I came to them very hesitantly because most people who were writing about or using newspapers as sources at that time were using independent newspapers. So it seemed a strange place to be looking. But read in more detail I think they can be very valuable and I think in a number of different ways. One is by thinking about the ways in which they were didactic. They were aimed at creating new kinds of political subjects. Another reason they're important is because there was space in them within tight constraints for some degree of exchange.
