The Role of Women in Early Christianity

There are inscriptions that date fourth, fifth, maybe even sixth century referring to women and positions of leadership within Christian congregations. Jesus did seem to make some sort of designation, like some difference between men and women because there were the 12 men. It does seem to me that there was more possibility for women's leadership at the beginning that was erased eventually along the way. Some would say that there is some sort of decline narrative.
