Is There a Metaverse?

i'm still pretty sceptical that we're going to see a metaverse in the nearer future. The idea of this persistent and pervasive virtual world that ties in with our physical world is not there yet. Virtual reality has gone through the hype cycle a couple of times, but it's still pretty small. We don't know if you want an untethered experience, that's going to cost you more than people who can afford it.
