For bi articular muscles, there's some decent evidence to suggest that single joint exercises tend to be more effective than multi joint exercises. Tricep extensions versus bench press for growth of the long head of the triceps. Aand same thing with a knee extensions for rectus pamorous growth. If pull downs aren't getting the job done for you, i mean, my perspective is, it doesn't hurt to give it a shot.
