Extent of overcrowding across prisons

Reports about conditions in the country’s prisons have highlighted severe overcrowding, poor mental health support and staff shortages. Earlier in the week Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan told us that fifteen hundred new prison spaces will be provided over the next four to five years.
