Case 242: The Investor Murders
Casefile True Crime
The Story of the Alaskan Investor
Fishing trawlers docked in the remote Alaskan village of Craig throughout mid to late 1982. The local community relied on its strong fishing industry, supported by an abundance of halibut and salmon in the surrounding waters. Mark Colterst was a naturally gifted fisherman from the state of Washington who bought his dream boat for around $1.5 million. He hoped it would facilitate his plans to retire at the age of 50. In 1982, Mark arrived in Craig on Sunday, September 5 after two weeks at sea. It was also the first time he'd been there in his new boat.
