The Provenance of Artifacts
Provenance is used a lot in archaeology to talk about where we found things. An unprovonanced artifact is something that does not have a secure provenance. And the big problem with this is without a good provenance, you don't know if it's a forgery or not. So there's a limit to the utility of such artifacts for scholars.
