Euclid and the Relationship Between Visual and Verbal Knowledge

Euclid was one of the first contexts in which Euclid was translated from the French translation. By the middle of the 19th century it was a quiet familiarity with with Euclid required for entry into Harvard College. The repetition of these diagrams was seen also as a form of mental discipline and training into another kind of citizenship, says David Frum.
