Is Age of Empires a Training Wheels Faction?

A, i was getting a little bored by the hundred years war french campaign. The mongols are great. They're conceptually my favorite faction. I'm still not super good with them in player yet. If you're getting raided in the early game, your town center is twice as powerful. And any time someone's in the radius of a defensive building, they get an attack botus.
