The Republican Party has been a mix ub lot of things. As it moves away from its old basis, it's also moving away from its legacy and the role it used to play in politics. I don't think the democratic party has quite been as warped, perhaps, in its transition. But in some ways, it also doesn't look a whole lot like the democratic party of the past. And it's really forgotten how to speak to rural voters and, increasingly, blue color workers of all races and ephnicities.
