The Jewish Sabbath Day

In a Jewish context, Jesus went into Gethsemane after sunset on what we would call Thursday evening but they would have called Friday. So this all happens on Friday and then he dies and is buried quickly in the tomb before the sun sets. According to John's time frame, also happens to be a high Sabbath, it's the Passover. And so you can't be interacting with the dead body of anybody during your Sabbath day or especially during a Passover feast. He's there only for a few, maybe one or two hours at the very most from Friday until Sunday morning.
