The Impact of the Cactus Air Force on the Battle of Henderson Field

The one time that the Cactus Air Force very nearly was wiped out, and I mean to an aircraft was the night of the bomb barber. October 13th, exactly, Congo and Haruna came down the slot and fired their 14-inch rifles for an hour and a half at Henderson field. 32 of the 39 SPDs that were on Henderson were destroyed. All of the TBFs aboard Cactus were destroyed and at least 10 more were damaged.
