Kakarako the rhinoceros won an election in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She got 95,000 votes and was not allowed to take office on the city council. Other animal candidates have included cats, gerbils, sheep, crawfish, chimpanzees,. gorillas, turkeys, cockatoos, roosters, dogs, and pigs. The foot powder that was elected mayor of a town in Ecuador in 1967.
