The Importance of Materialism in Science
Whitehead was at Cambridge studying and then teaching mathematics and mathematical physics. His teacher was the student of clerk Maxwell who developed electromagnetic theory. Whitehead said that Newtonian physics was considered to be almost complete in the last couple of decades of the 19th century. In 1905 Einstein's miracle year I think they call it he publishes several papers that establish relativity theory.
