The Cubans' Fear of the US Invasion
In October 1962 the US announces Operation Ort SAC which is Castro spelled backwards. 7,500 Marines on this mock Caribbean invasion complete with a government overthrow scheduled to begin in October 15th but then canceled because missile silos were spotted. These are all events that provoked the Soviet decision to put these missiles and for Castro to welcome this you know the missiles being put in on Cuba.
