The device creates an echo there's a bit of a lag with their own voice so they feel like they're talking in unison with themselves. And so it helps the stutter again at least in a clinical setting. I don't know if it would just be too distracting in a conversation or what but I got the impression that they haven't tested it fully or proven it fully outside of the lab.
