Is It a Failure to Build the LHC?
We should not pretend that each time we produce an accelerator or an experiment, there is a break through discovery in our understanding of nature and will bring a noble prize. The fact that an experiment is not producing a major brictu in understanding of nature, but just extending the know ledge up to a certain energy scale, is not a failure. It is a scientific success. We should be very careful in promising discoveries to the public. People do still want hospitals, clean water, transport, intra structure food, green energy, and they want them urgently. So i want to question if thi long term progress that we might achieve from what we have done in the last 400 years will be worth
