Myers's Personality Survives Death

The purpose of psychical research, as conceived by its most prominent founders, was to examine such phenomena in light of their bearing on questions about human personality. For the first two decades of the s p r's existence, myers was one of its most active investigators and prolific writers. It is readily apparent from even a brief glance at myers's writings that his ultimate concern was with whether individual personality survives death. The question, for man, most momentous of all is whether or no his personality involves any element which can survive bodily death. And this direct have always lain the greatest fears, the farthest reaching hopes, which could either oppress or stimulate mortal minds.
