Elevated PQ may be a biomarker for severe parenchymal lung disease. Patients with BPD may have RV dysfunction, especially if they have pulmonary hypertension. The LV systolic dysfunction may be due to persistent pulmonary edema. As these children are premature, it is also important to assess for abnormalities in cardiac development.
