My Grandfather's Oxygen Mask

The year of 1986 brought something that would become the biggest memory of all, a memory that would come to haunt me for the rest of my life. My parents had relatively well-paying jobs in the city of Bemenda, where most of our family lived. We also had relatives in the small rural town of Pueblo, which is about a three hours drive to the north. One night I went to bed as carefree as can be, only to wake up in a living nightmare. It wasn't just my grandfather who passed away. Many, many others would too.
