The Inherent Bias of Animism

The Oxford English Dictionary defines animism as the attribution of a soul to plants, inanimate objects, and natural phenomena. To categorize people as animist requires a pre-existing worldview in which everything is assumed to be inanimate. The use of the word inanimate right there in the definition is what we might call an inherent bias. It's a logical fallacy known as circular definition.
