The Long Term for Liz Truss
Liz Truss is politically done. She has no credibility, she can't corral the Conservative parliamentary party to whip it properly and so on. The deep division of the Conservative party remains Liz Truss's strongest card to at least eat things out for a little while. And crucially, I think it would be very different if the Conservative party were acting in one voice. But we're not talking about one Conservative party anymore. There are many Conservative parties at operation in the House of Commons right now. They are split every which way possible, both by personal ambition as well as ideological differences - Penny Morden ain't giving away for Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt.
