Eugene Dubois and the Origins of Human Origins
Eugene Dubois was a 19th century anatomist from the Duchy of Limburg in the Netherlands. In 1887 he joined the Dutch army specifically to be posted to the Dutch East Indies, modern Indonesia for his prize. He would start his search among the rivers and caves of the island of Simatra before moving onto the neighbouring island of Java. It was while near Trinil in East Java during the year 1891 that Dubois and his team discovered a particularly interesting skullcap.
