The Challenges of Making Complex Molecules in Galaxies
The size of this galaxy is only a few thousand light years. It seems to have about the same concentration of heavier elements, things like carbon and oxygen, as our Milky Way does now. And we saw some regions where we saw these molecules, but there wasn't necessarily a lot of star formation going on there. So it could be that the molecules were destroyed.
