Is a Physics Degree a Good Thing?
There's nothing in a physics degree that gives you any special insight into anything outside of physics. I've been astonished at times with how ignorant certain people with physics degrees are of simply chemistry, the next nearest subject. It just so happens to be a physicist and that doesn't hurt what he's saying, it enhances it. And there are some other people like this as well - David Deutsches is probably the preeminent example,. But any random physicist or any random philosopher or any random neurotrant, not necessarily, will get any special insight by studying becoming really good at one particular thing.
