The most cogent arguments that I've seen from kind of political scientists and philosophers, Francis Fukuyama and a number of others had a really great article in foreign affairs. The most sensible scenario here would appear to be to use existing antitrust regulations, which we have to break up the platforms. We do this all the time with monopoly power. Even before big tech existed, monopoly power was recognized as a threat to democracy. And then the question then is, well, if neither of those are necessarily satisfactory, do we leave the status quo continuing?
