In 2010, when Meredith was helping her mother go through chemotherapy, she got a letter from a reader who was also dealing with cancer. The person wrote in about their spouse, a woman who had survived breast cancer. In her letter, the woman wrote, he knows I'm not happy, but he feels that the marriage is okay. Well, it's not. "I hate ultimatums, but I don't know what else to do," Meredith says.
