During this campaign, he seems to have abandoned the principle of keeping his core within a day's march of each other. As Commander-in-Chief, Napoleon also bears some of the blame for the supply and logistics problems that plagued the army during this period. Almost all of these issues were caused or at least exacerbated by the difficult conditions. It was Bonaparte's duty to rise above those difficulties, and he did not do so.
